I was watching the trailer for Smash Bros Brawl the other day, and this silly scene came to mind. Because at some level, we've all wanted a floating, soul-sucking jellyfish for a pet. I was about due for my annual Metroid fanart, and it's been ages since I uploaded anything so here you go.
Comments welcome, please pick this apart. I would like to hear any ideas people might have on the background in particular, I'm just stuck on it. Enviroments are the bane of my existence, everything would just be much simpler if we all lived in a monochromatic void. Incidentally, you're all free to smack me upside my fool ass head if I attempt to paint something translucent ever again.
Colored in OC3, with color tweaks in photoshop, worked on it on and off for a couple of days. I've uploaded a bigger version to my scraps, if anyone wants a closer look: [link]
I still think "assamatter" is cooler.

Don't worry about the transluscent thing- you did just fine. In fact, I think that's one of the best-drawn Metroids I've ever seen.
